Owner/Operator Stu Wanicur, has more than 30 years in the food business. From his first job working as a bus boy and cook at the Silver Palace on Route 70 in Cherry Hill, Wanicur has known his passion was restaurants. Wanicur says the attention to the details that makes the difference”. In the mid- 1980s, he rose before dawn to get to his friend’s dad’s bagel shop on Staten Island to make bagels. He also worked as a server at Pasta Bella, an Olive Garden-concept eatery throughout his college years. His first “real job’’ after college was with Aramark as Assistant Food Service Director at the University of Delaware. He’s worked in food sales for Sysco of Philadelphia and for Unilever, representing international brands such as Hellmann's and Lipton. Wanicur says he has dreamed over the past 16 years of opening his own restaurant and eyed the vacant 1859 farmhouse located at 312 Kresson road for the past four years as his target location. He promises to bring a mixture of ambiance, exceptional food and service that he feels fills a void in the area. Stu currently resides in Cherry Hill and has two children, son Ben (12) and daughter Sadie (9).
Executive Chef David Murray brings a wealth of experience and a deep personal belief in buying and serving the freshest local ingredients available to his guests. “Over the course of my career, I’ve seen again and again the difference that working with fresh, locally sourced ingredients can make in a finished dish,” says Chef Murray. I like knowing that the majority of my organic produce comes from Kim of 1895 Organic Farms in Lumberton, NJ. There is simply no substitute for top-notch products, and I’m proud to work with the best suppliers in the region and brag that my kitchen doesn’t have a microwave or a freezer in it. Prior to running the kitchen at The Farmhouse, Chef Murray honed his craft at The Water Club Boutique Hotel in Atlantic City, a kitchen ran by Iron Chef Geoffrey Zakarian. Murray also served the Executive Chef role of Philadelphia icon Georges Perrier’s Mainline restaurant Georges’ as well as the Executive Chef of the renovated barn (farm to table) restaurant The Gables at Chadd’s Ford. Chef Murray is a graduate of The Academy of Culinary Arts in Mays Landing, NJ and also attended the Accademia Montebianco in Florida where he learned the art of gelato & confectionery arts. He currently resides in Cherry Hill with his beautiful family, wife Stacy, their two sons, Tavit and Spencer, and dog Bruno.
